Basal Skull Fracture
A fracture to the base of the skull which is not usually confirmed without the use of an x-ray or CT scan. Basal skull fractures are commonly diagnosed by clinic findings. Some symptoms include: racoon (black) eyes, loss of sensation to forehead, loss of sensation to lower face, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), deafness, and bleeding from nose and/or ears.
Potential Settlement Value
In 2003, the Court in White v Aransibia, [2003] OJ No 2580 awarded the injured person $100,000 for injuries that included a basal skull fracture.
