Severed Achilles Tendon

As one of the longer tendons in the body, the Achilles tendon stretches from the heel to the calf muscles. The Achilles tendon is often severed when moving suddenly or abrupt tensing of the muscle (IE. a sprinter at the start of a race). Symptoms include: pain along the back of your foot, swelling, stiffness, and difficulty flexing your foot.
